Marlin R. Olson Jr.

The funeral service for Marlin R. Olson, Jr., of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

After a valiant battle with cancer, Marlin, age 55, passed away with family at his side on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Elders Home in New York Mills, MN.

Marlin was born to Marlin and Joanne (Heitman) Olson on November 6, 1961 in St. Paul, MN. He graduated high school from Wadena High School in 1979. He entered the Air Force in 1984 and was honorably discharged in 1990 as a sergeant.

Many community members will remember Marlin as the latest owner and operator of Marlin's Small Engine Repair in Wadena. A business started by his father. Marlin always liked to have his hands busy, tinkering with anything with an engine.

Marlin was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Arthur and Luella Heitman and Frank and Agnes Olson.

Marlin is survived by his parents Marlin and Joanne of Wadena; brother Tom (Anna) of New York Mills, nephew Joshua Olson and niece Jasmyn Olson; along with a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Military honors will be provide by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN.

Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
