The funeral service for Lucille "Lucy" Rehm of Wadena, was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Father Aaron Kuhn presiding. Shortly after her 63rd birthday, Lucy died unexpectedly due to an auto accident on Sunday, February 5, 2017, near Wadena, MN.
Lucille "Lucy" Marie Freske was born on January 8, 1954 in Parkers Prairie, MN, to Frank and Mary Freske. She completed school in Parkers Prairie. Even at her young age Lucy enjoyed spending most of her time with family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were spent in the kitchen with her grandmother where her love of baking developed!
In high school Lucy met the love of her life, Bruce Rehm. By August of 1973 Bruce and Lucy were joined in marriage at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River, MN. The first few years of their marriage were spent in the Twin Cities area where they welcomed their first born son in 1976, Chad Douglas. In 1979 Bruce and Lucy moved back to rural Wadena where they knew they wanted to raise their family. Lucy continued her career in financing at that point and started at First National Bank in Wadena. In 1981 Lucy and Bruce were blessed again with the birth of their youngest son, Adam Christopher.
For many years Lucy worked hard, raised her sons and was a devoted wife. In her free time Lucy enjoyed many hobbies outdoors, weather permitting! Camping, flower gardens, bird watching and basking in the sun just to name a few. After 34 years Lucy retired from the bank. That didn't slow her down one bit, she started to brighten many people's days working part-time at Walmart. Lately Lucy's days were spent loving her sweet little dog Bailey and shopping for her precious granddaughter Ella Mae.
Lucy filled any room she entered with her pleasant nature and loving personality. She loved life and embraced it daily with her beautiful smile. We will forever miss our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Our hearts will never be the same.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Frank Freske and Mary Freske-Zimmel; step-father Ray Zimmel; and brothers Roger and David Freske.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Bruce; sons Adam (Amanda) Rehm of Baudette and Chad Rehm of Deer Creek; grandchildren Braden and Ella Mae Rehm; brothers Les Freske of Farmington and Norm (Rose) Freske of Otsego; sister Irene Freske of Eagan; along with a host of friends and neighbors.
Pallbearers were Chad Rehm, Adam Rehm, Norm Freske Jr. Mike Freske, Kyle Freske and Brian Rehm.
