Skate park meeting a success, organizer says
A good turnout showed up to Wednesday's meeting about improvements for the skate park at the Northwest Park in Wadena, according to Ron Bucholz, the city's public works director.
There was a lot of interest from those who attended, Bucholz said. One of the attendees even drew up a nice sketch of what he thought the improvements should be, and they were not extravagant.
The improvement ideas will be presented at Tuesday's city council meeting, he said.
The Wadena Park Board organized the meeting for skateboarders and their parents after the city was denied a Tony Hawk Foundation grant. The foundation indicated that a reason for the denial was general concern that the city had not raised much of the more than $39,000 cost for the project and did not provide enough evidence of the skaters' participation.
