High speed chase lands one in custody
On Saturday, June 17, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call of an erratic driver on Highway 71, north of the City of Menahga. The vehicle was said to be speeding and passing dangerously. The vehicle sped through Menahga before the Menahga officer could catch up to it. Deputies located the vehicle between Sebeka and Menahga, still driving at high rates of speed in excess of 90 mph. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to yield and led deputies on an approximate eight-mile chase southbound on Highway 71 with speeds around 90 mph. A deputy was able to successfully deploy Stop Sticks, deflating a tire on the vehicle and the vehicle stopped less than two miles later. The driver, Randy Boseck, 56, of Wadena, was taken into custody without further incident. Boseck is currently in the Wadena County Jail on felony charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and the case is being review by the Wadena County Attorney’s Office. The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by police departments from Menahga, Sebeka, and Wadena, the Minnesota State Patrol and John’s Car Care.
