This growing season, Wadena will be seeing and hearing a lot about Kale. One Vegetable One Community is a campaign that unites communities around a specific vegetable and encourages gardeners of all levels to plant, grow, cook and share the featured vegetable.

This year's vegetable is Kale. OVOC is hosted by the University of Minnesota Extension's SNAP-Ed Program. It is a great way to start community conversations about food and supports healthy lifestyles. The goal is to see the vegetable grown in all areas of community gardens, home gardens and container gardens at homes and businesses.

Packets with seeds, planting instructions, a garden marker, and a recipe can be picked up for free at several locations in Wadena, including Wadena County Public Health, The University of Minnesota Extension Office, Wadena Food Shelf, Wadena County Human Services, Wadena City Library, Mahube-Otwa Community Action and Wadena Chamber of Commerce.

For more information, visit OVOC's Facebook page at facebook.com/UMNovoc.
