The team hopes to have the large robot (pictured above) and the mini-robot mobile and ready for trial runs by the end of this week. The team has about two weeks to complete their project before shipping the robot on Feb. 22 for the Duluth competition on March 10-12.

WDC Robotics Program Coordinator Ann Pate said the students are in need of monetary and tool donations yet this season. Pate said they are in need of a Dremel tool, drill, jigsaw and any type of hand tool.

"Right now, the kids are bringing tools from home," said Pate.

The robotics team is also in need of monetary donations to help cover expenses for additional parts and for competition expenses in Duluth. "Any donations would be greatly appreciated," Pate added.

Donations for the First Robotics program can be sent to Wadena-Deer Creek High School, Attn: WDC Robotics, 215 Colfax Ave SW, Wadena, MN, 56482. Tools that are in good condition can be dropped off at the WDC Elementary office at 215 Colfax Ave SW.
