Twenty-five local students, ages 11 and older, had the opportunity to participate in the Tri-County Health Care babysitting clinic held in the Browne Conference Room on the second level of Tri-County Health Care on Saturday, Oct. 16.

Denise Peltier, RN, taught the students about a variety of topics including interviewing for a babysitting job, diapering and feeding techniques, how to hold a baby and how to handle bedtime issues. Sharon Heinen, NREMT-paramedic, taught emergency care including first aid and CPT. Jenny Hoppe, NREMT, and Holly Weller, TCHC events coordinator, facilitated the class. Students also received handouts with age-appropriate activities for kids, learned proper hand washing techniques, received tips about what questions to ask parents and received a tour of the Wadena Medical Clinic and Tri-County Hospital.

Another babysitting class will be held in the spring.
