Jeff Smith has not lived the life of your typical blind magician.

Smith was at St. Ann's Parish Center Tuesday for a show that entertained kids from Wadena, Bluffton, Perham, Staples and Browerville.

The University of Minnesota graduate has been practicing magic for the last 17 years and has performed more than 3,000 shows.

Humor is a large part of Smith's act and has been an even larger part of his life.

Between the ages of 5 and 18 he endured ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic stuttering, 20 surgeries and blindness at the age of 15.

Smith and his wife, Devon, live in the Twin Cities.
