WDC FFA attends Ag Activities Day
Seven Wadena-Deer Creek FFA members attended Ag Activities Day at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. The FFA Chapter had teams competing in dairy, general livestock, and agricultural mechanics career development events.
Aside from competing, the FFA members attended workshops, learned about agricultural careers, and toured the UMC college campus.
Tyler Wegshceid placed fifth high and Dane Hoffman placed 10th high individual in the Region II General Livestock Career Development judging classes of beef, sheep and swine. The General Livestock team placed third in the Region II contest, qualifying for state competition in April.

Students received $750 scholarships for placing first, $600 for placing second, and $450 for placing third in more than 20 different events. This year, more than $32,000 in awards and scholarships were available to award winning teams and individuals. The contests are overseen by University of Minnesota, Crookston faculty and students.
The WDC FFA chapter traveled by chartered bus to Crookston with FFA members from the Staples, Brainerd, and Long Prairie chapters.
