WDC FCCLAers attend Region 6 Conference in Detroit Lakes

The Region 6 FCCLA Conference was held at Conference Center of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Detroit Lakes campus on Thursday, Oct. 1.

One hundred sixty members from 10 chapters were in attendance. Adrianna Buettner, Region 6 Treasurer and Anissa Mench, Region Jr. High Council are members of the WDC FCCLA chapter. As part of the officer team they had the experience of planning much of the meeting.

Trooper Andy Schmidt was the keynote speaker and addressed teen driving issues. This is the subject of the FCCLA Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety project.

Round table sessions were used to introduce the state and national FCCLA projects to the delegates. Round table presenters from Wadena-Deer Creek were Whitney Meacham, state peer ed team member, Yalonda Nelson, state vice president of resource and development, in addition to the region officers, Adrianna Buettner and Anissa Mench.

In addition to the leadership opportunities for the presenters, all the members learned about the state theme for the year, "Life's a Canvas ... Create It!," and all of the state FCCLA projects.
