Wadena-Deer Creek FFA members Hanah Rohr and Emily Benson recently attended the 89th Minnesota FFA Convention, along with more than 3,500 FFA members from across the state. The convention was held at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

Hanah Rohr received a bronze rating in horse judging while Emily Benson performed in the State FFA Choirs.

According to Wadena-Deer Creek FFA Advisor Richard Muckala, "the highlight of the convention was when the WDC FFA Chapter was named a National Finalist and Gold Star Chapter at the Final Session held in Mariucci Arena. Both Emilee and Hanah received the award on stage."

WDC FFA National Chapter's application will be forwarded to the National FFA Association to be judged at the National FFA Convention, Oct. 24-27. Only four "National Finalists" are selected for each of the award areas and will go on to compete for a national proficiency award.

FFA members also attended workshops that included "Temple Grandin" and "Change Lives, Teach Ag." WDC FFA members also attended the retiring address of State FFA President Katie Benson from Staples.
