WDC junior qualifies for state FFA horse competition

Body:

Wadena-Deer Creek FFA member Hanah Rohr recently qualified for the state competition in the Region II FFA Horse Career Development Event by placing sixth-high individual.

A WDC junior, Rohr competed against 150 FFA members from schools in FFA Region II, which includes schools from the northeast corner of the state, east of Highway 71 from Royalton up to Silver Bay. It is the largest geographic FFA region in the state.

Rohr judged horses in classes of Friesian, Arabian, Quarter Horse, Warm-Blooded Geldings, Western Pleasure, and English Pleasure.

FFA members gave oral reasons to a judge telling why they placed the Warm-Blooded Gelding Class and took a written test on horsemanship.

The Region II Horse CDE was held at Rocking R Farm and Stable in Foley, Minn.

State horse competition will be held April 22-24, during the Minnesota State FFA Convention held at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.
