WDC students participate in National FCCLA Leadership Conference
More than 7,000 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members, advisers, alumni, and guests from across the country gathered in Nashville, Tenn., July 2-6 for FCCLA's 2017 National Leadership Conference.
This conference was themed "UP, Unlimited Possibilities," recognizing all the opportunities that are open to FCCLAers and beyond — and the unlimited potential each of us has to be the best we can be.
The national conference challenged participants to confront the issues youth are facing today by gaining the necessary skills through leadership development and competitive events. Over 4000 of the students took part in FCCLA's Competitive Events and 26 students ran for national FCCLA officer positions.
FCCLA Competitive Events took place with over 4000 students from across the nation competing for top honors in over 40 Family and Consumer Sciences related events. Wadena Deer Creek FCCLAers, Caitlin Savage. Franchesca Bakken, and Paige Barthel earned the opportunity to compete in STAR Events at the national level. Caitlin received a gold medal, Franchesca, a gold, and Paige, a bronze medal.
