Lake Region Electric Cooperative unveils outage center resource

If you're at work or away from home and winter weather is threatening, you no longer need to sit by wondering if the power is on at your home or the home of other family members. If you have internet access, you can log on to Lake Region Electric Cooperative's Outage Center at to see if there are any current power outages in your area.

Lake Region's Outage Center provides a detailed map of their coverage area that highlights current outages. The outage map allows you to zoom in and out for a more detailed view. Scrolling over an outage area will show how many LREC customers are affected by a particular outage. Every five minutes the outage map is updated to show any change in the outage situation.

"When a winter storm hits the area, the Outage Center will be a great resource for our members and even the local media. The Outage Center provides a detailed map that indicates where outages are occurring and it can be viewed online or through your smart phone. It's one way we can give you peace of mind when the weather gets bad" said Dan Husted, V.P. of marketing and communications at LREC.

Members can also access other great features within the website such as outage news and updates, how to report an outage, safety tips and more. "Another excellent way to receive updates on major storm related outages is to follow Lake Region Electric Cooperative on Facebook," Husted added.

You should always be prepared for an outage when threatening weather conditions arise, but if you are not close to home, your cabin or loved ones, Lake Region Electric Cooperative's Outage Center map will allow you to track any power outages and know when your power is restored.
