BNSF tower will be built this fall
A 181-foot communications tower for Burlington Northern-Santa Fe will be constructed this fall on the east side of Wadena.
"They are looking at building a communications tower that would help track locomotives and trains as well as allow them to be more flexible with their switching controls," Wadena Development director Dean Uselman said.
He said that the tower is for sure being built this fall for a duration of about a week to two weeks, and will be up by the end of the year.
"There are two site options, and one would be on the north side of the tracks, the other would be on the south side of the tracks - probably just 500 to 1,000 feet east of Buckwheat Growers Association," he said.
The tower will be approximately 19 feet across at the base.
"We are just going through the siting process and permitting process right now,"
