After burst pipe, Borealis Books has a temporary home

Borealis Books in downtown Wadena is temporarily closed for cleanup after a pipe burst in the ceiling at the back of the store early Tuesday morning.

Owner Gillette Kempf plans to temporarily relocate the bookstore across the street in The Village Emporium and resume business operations with reduced hours by the end of February, according to a press release. A limited inventory of books will be available as all non-fiction and antique books were damaged.

The non-fiction books are available for a one-day salvage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Feb. 13, in the Wadena United Methodist Church, according to a press release. The books have varying degrees of water damage. The bookstore will dispose of unsold books.

Customers with outstanding special orders will be able to pick up their books beginning Monday, Feb. 22 at The Village Emporium, according to the store.
