Verdict: Jury finds St. Marie guilty on all counts

Beiswenger named TCHC president, CEO

The Tri-County Health Care Governing Board on Friday announced the appointment of Joel Beiswenger as president and chief executive officer. Beiswenger has been serving as interim CEO since December 2008 and will assume the position effective immediately.

Previously, Beiswenger served as the regional finance director for Western Plains Health Network in Sterling, Colo. from 1993-1998. In June 1998, Beiswenger assumed the role as chief financial officer at Tri-County Hospital and has been serving in this capacity ever since.

"The hospital board is very happy to name Joel as CEO," said Board Chairwoman Jolene Johannes. "The board was looking for someone to take on the role as CEO for the long term. Joel has extensive background in healthcare management and during his role as interim CEO, Joel demonstrated great skill in leading our talented team of staff, physicians and volunteers. He has proven himself most capable and has the leadership skills to address the future challenges facing all community hospitals. We could not have found anyone more qualified or dedicated to our healthcare system than Joel."

Beiswenger said he is ready and eager to move TCHC forward.

"It is a great honor to be appointed president and CEO and the board's confidence in me is greatly appreciated," he said. "We have a group of dedicated board members, physicians, managers and staff and, together, we will work to carry out the TCHC vision of improving the health of the communities we serve. I am excited to work with community leaders and other healthcare organizations to provide the healthcare services people in Wadena and the surrounding communities want to see."

Beiswenger holds a bachelor's degree in business and accounting from the University of North Dakota. He is also pursuing studies to attain a master of healthcare administration degree from the University of Minnesota; this will be completed in 2010.

Beiswenger and his wife, Kim, make their home in Wadena. They have three children, Bailee, 21, Taylor, 20, and Kyle, 17.

TCHC includes Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, a not-for-profit, 25-bed Joint Commission accredited hospital with clinics in Wadena, Bertha, Henning, Ottertail and Sebeka; Fair Oaks Lodge, a long-term care and rehabilitation facility in Wadena; and Tri-County Community Health Services, providing home health care, hospice and emergency medical services to Wadena and the surrounding communities.
