PHS Volleyball Camp June 25-27

Perham Volleyball is proud to present another fantastic opportunity for Perham area volleyball players to improve their skills by attending Perham's 7th Annual Summer Volleyball Camp June 25-27. This summer's camp features former University of North Dakota head volleyball coaches, Kari and Katy Peterson.

Kari Peterson was appointed interim head coach of the Fighting Sioux on July 29, 2008, after serving the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at UND.

A former NCAA Division II National Player of the Year, Peterson possesses a diverse coaching background. Prior to arriving at UND, Peterson spent the 2005 season as head coach of NAIA Valley City State (N.D.) and guided the Vikings to a 10-15 overall mark and a 7-7 showing in the DAC-10. Those seven conference wins were more than VCSU had won over the previous four seasons combined.

Peterson enjoyed a distinguished playing career as a setter at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., from 1997-2001. She was named the national player of the year in 2000 after leading the Vikings to a national runner-up finish.

During her four years as a player, Peterson was a two-time AVCA and Daktronics Division II All-American and was part of three North Central Conference championship and NCAA Division II Regional playoff teams (1997, 1999, 2000). She earned NCC Freshman of the Year honors in 1998 as well as first team All-NCC honors in both 2000 and 2001.

Katy Peterson, former UND Head Coach for 2006 - 2007 seasons, and current Moorhead State assistant. Led UND to a 21-34 overall record and a 6-18 NCC mark. Peterson enjoyed a highly successful playing career at Augustana, winning three NCC titles and leading the Vikings to an NCAA Division II runner-up finish as a senior.

The camp will be held June 25-27 at Prairie Wind Gymnasium in Perham and will be open to area girls entering grades 6 - 12. Cost for Perham athletes will be $75 and non-Perham athletes will be $100. Deadline for registration is June 1.

Girls in grades 6-8 will have camp from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. June 25-26, and from 9-11 a.m. June 27. Grades 9-12 will have camp from 12:30-3:30 p..m. June 25-26, and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on June 27.
