Power Works 8th Annual Push, Pull & BBQ

Power Works Gym in Perham will be hosting their 8th Annual Push, Pull & BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m.

The event will consist of bench press and dead lift competitions. This is a drug-free event.

Cost to enter the competition is $50 if registered before July 28. An additional $5 registration fee will be added after that date. That includes entry fee for all lifters, t-shirts, all the pop, sports drinks or beer (if 21 or older) you can drink, plus a steak and sauteed shrimp for all lifters and volunteer helpers.

There is no cost for spectators and concessions will be available.

In addition to the bench press and dead lift competitions, there will be a contest to do the most repetitions of your body weight in the bench press and a 125-pound dumbbell carry.

Power Works Gym is located on West Main Street in Perham at the intersection of Cty. Rd. 34.

Bike Club in Henning July 24

The Lakes Area Bike Club's next ride will be on Tuesday, July 31 in the Detroit Lakes area. Riders should meet at 6:30 p.m. at Dunton Locks Park, the directions are as follows: Go South from the intersection of Hwy 59 and 10. Turn right at the intersection of Highway 59 and Becker County Road 6. There is a traffic light at this intersection. Go .25 mile and turn left on County road 19. Go .5 miles to Dunton Locks.

Cyclists should bring their own beverages and a lawn chair. There will be a picnic of brats and burgers following the ride with a free will donation.

There will be varying ride lengths and helmets are recommended. There is no charge to ride with the club and new riders of all abilities are always welcome.

'Bert's Open' Lions Golf Tournament July 28

The Lions District 5M9 Council Chair "Bert's Open" Golf Tournament will be held July 28 at Balhepburn Golf Course in New York Mills.

This four-person scramble costs $30 per person, which includes a nine-hole round of golf and lunch.

Tee times are set at 9 a.m., 12 noon, and 3 p.m. The tournament is a Campaign Sightfirst Phase II Fundraiser.
