HOL Football

shuffle continues

Maybe there will be a Heart O' Lakes football conference after all.

The Minnesota State High School League said the conference couldn't be dissolved until 2009 because the conference hadn't followed proper procedure.

The conference has undergone changes in the last year, the members leaving, and new members joining, with the league going from eight teams, to 10, then to 14, then back to 12.

Now, it appears the conference will have 14-teams in the 2008 season. That will include two members, Staples-Motley and Thief River Falls. Both schools have applied for membership and are expected to be voted in. Perham High School has already turned in a yes vote to allow both.

The HOL would be divided into two divisions. The Northern Division will have: Perham, Roseau, Park Rapids, East Grand Forks, Crookston, TRF and Pequot Lakes). The Classic Division will include: Pelican Rapids, D-G-F, W-DC, S-M, Warroad, WCA and Breckenridge.

In 2007, the league will operate with eight teams. Four teams (W-DC, D-G-F, Pelican Rapids, WCA) will be included in the schedule as independents.
