Former PJ intern hired at Echo Press
Jessica Sly is the newest addition to the Alexandria Echo Press editorial staff.
Originally from Wadena, Sly will work as a content writer, a newly created position at the Echo Press.
"I've got an apartment I can move into in two weeks, and then I'll be set to explore Alexandria. I'm constantly amazed at how much there is here. Five Subways? No way."
Sly attended Northwestern College in St. Paul and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English with a writing concentration.
She recently worked as a communications assistant at Northwestern's Marketing and Communications Office.
Of the transition back to a small town, she said, "After living in the Cities for three years, I'm definitely ready to move back to the country. I mean, I'll miss the shopping and the fantastic sights, but I think I can do without the constant traffic and super confusing road signs."
As a content writer for the Echo Press, Sly will edit and format most of the submitted news such as engagements, weddings, school news, business items and news releases. She's excited to explore the position further and push it to its full potential.
Now that she's out of school, she has more time to play the piano, read and write novels that she hopes to publish.
"I've been a full-time college student for three years," she said. "I've only been graduated for about two weeks, but it's so nice to get done with work, go home and have absolutely no homework to do!"
Sly worked as an intern for the Wadena Pioneer Journal in 2009.
