Unlocking Prophecy Conference coming to Wadena on April 28

Christian radio 89.3 FM is launching a free weekend conference to help community members learn to interpret the biblical book of Revelation. The first session kicks off from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 (complimentary dinner provided) at the Wadena National Guard Armory. The conference will continue the next day from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.

"The timing just seemed right for exploring the stories of Revelation," said conference presenter Jeff Scoggins. "We'd all like to hear some good news for a change. We all know someone who's lost a job. Our planet is trapped in war. People ask me all the time what it all means. I can't say much about the economy, but I'd like to take a broader view of history by starting with the Bible."

Scoggins feels that some readers go to extremes when approaching Revelation, either considering the prophecies irrelevant to contemporary life or obsessing over specific symbols while neglecting the larger themes of Christian faith. "Revelation was written to lead you ultimately to Jesus Christ, not to private interpretations about beasts and numbers," he said. "I'm not going to tell people all the answers, but I can equip you with tools for finding your own answers."

Scoggins is a pastor and author who lived in the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and suburban Washington, D.C., before moving to Minnesota nine years ago. At Christian radio KOPJ 89.3 FM he serves as an advisor and speaker. He also speaks at Adventist churches in Aitkin, Brainerd, Staples, and Wadena.

"Some of our radio listeners have already said they plan to attend this seminar, and we'd love for the rest of the community to join us," said Scoggins.

Thanks to support from donors and grants, the public is invited to attend these seminars free of charge. Free childcare will also be available during the meetings. Pre-registration is not required for seminar attendance. Participants should bring a Bible if they have one. Find more information at
