Skogen endorsed by District 8 DFL for State Senate
Former State Senator Dan Skogen was unanimously endorsed for the new Senate District 8 seat at the Endorsing Convention Saturday in Battle Lake. Skogen served four years in the state senate beginning in 2007, in District 10, which included all of Otter Tail and Wadena Counties, and part of Becker County. While in the senate Skogen served on the Education, Agriculture, Veterans, Commerce and Environment committees.
With the redistricting complete, Skogen found himself in the new SD 8 which includes most of Otter Tail County and eight townships in Northeastern Douglas County.
"I decided last summer to seek the endorsement no matter where the new district lines took me," said Skogen.
Skogen, who works in Wadena as a radio sports broadcaster and sales representative, is looking forward to the challenges of campaigning in a new area, and working in St. Paul again. "I want to thank the delegates of Senate District 8 for their support," Skogen said.
He added, "While public service is not easy work, the process is important and I look forward to bringing my common sense approach of getting things done back to the senate for the people of this area."
Dan Skogen and his wife Dee live west of Hewitt on a hobby farm. Their adult sons live in North Carolina and California.
