WDC icemen bow to Golden Bears, Raiders

Cole Jackson scored two unanswered goals in the third period Saturday afternoon as Eveleth-Gilbert tripped Wadena-Deer Creek 8-6.

Jackson had a five-point game against the Wolverines scoring four goals and one assist.

The Golden Bears held a slim 3-2 lead after the first period. Nick Moe, Gus Karkinen joined Jackson in scoring for Eveleth-Gilbert.

The Wolverines fired back with goals from Mason Freeman and Christian Berg.

The Golden Bears iced the first two goals of the second period as Jackson and Kivela found the net on power play shots.

The Wolverines then went on a scoring binge lighting the lamp four straight times. Bridger Pettit was credited with two of the goals while Berg and Mitchell Swanson both scored solo goals.

The Golden Bears managed to tie the game at 6-all when Mitchell Huffman poked in a power play shot at the 11:55 mark.

Berg had a playmaker for the Wolverines. Pettit and Swanson both recorded two assists.

The up-tempo game saw the Golden Bears edge the Wolverines 41-38 in shots on goal.

Wesley Janson stopped 33 shots in the loss. Corey Clapsaddle and Grant Kokal combined for 32 saves in the victory.

Darrin Estey had a hat trick and Jayden Gangl scored a playmaker as the Raiders clubbed the Wolverines 10-2 Friday.

Mitchell Swanson and Bridger Pettit notched goals for WDC in the first and second periods. Christian Berg came up with two assists.

The Raiders out-shot the Wolverines 42-13.

Cody McManigle stopped 32 shots for WDC. Erikur Arnason kicked out 11 shots for Greenway.
