'Silence the Thunder' the theme of WDC's Homecoming

Photo provided WDC is bringing back the homecoming button! This is how the button will look. The WDC Student Council will be selling the homecoming buttons at WDC sporting events prior to the homecoming football game on Sept. 23.

Wadena-Deer Creek will continue its fall tradition of a Homecoming Parade through downtown Wadena on Friday, Sept. 23. The Wolverines look to "Silence the Thunder" as they host Long Prairie-Grey Eagle football team on Friday night.

This year's parade will stage on Aldrich Avenue in front of BN Park starting at 1 p.m., Sept. 23, with the parade kicking off at 2 p.m. The route will go down Jefferson Avenue and turning west on Franklin. The community is invited to celebrate and show their "Wolverine Spirit."

Anyone interested in entering the parade should contact Norm Gallant, Activities Director, at (218) 632-2310 or by e-mail at for an entry form. WDC's school website also has the entry form available to download.

The parade will help to culminate an exciting week of Homecoming activities including: WDC volleyball hosting two home matches -- Perham on Tuesday the 20th and Park Rapids on the 22nd; Girls' Tennis at home versus Parkers Prairie on the 22nd and the Wolverine football team taking on Long Prairie-Grey Eagle "Thunder" Friday night under the lights.
