Andersen Joins Lakewood Health System

Lakewood Health System welcomed Steven Andersen, M.D., to its growing team of providers.

Andersen received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry and his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed his internship and residency in family medicine at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma and later received a master's degree in public health and tropical medicine from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, La.

He served in the military as a major in the Medical Corps and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service. He worked as a medical missionary in the Central African Republic. He also served six years as medical director and CEO of Health Center Lumiére, a mission clinic and hospital in Haiti. For the past several years he has worked in emergency medicine and urgent care with St. Mary's Duluth clinic in Superior, Wisconsin and as a physician locum with the Wapiti Medical Group.

Andersen, who will primarily see patients out of Lakewood's Pillager Clinic (653 Pillsbury Street North, Pillager), is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
