Wadena approves mutual aid agreement with the Perham FD

The Wadena City Council approved a mutual aid agreement with the Perham Fire Department.

City Administrator Brad Swenson said that the city of Wadena has agreements with Todd and Wadena Counties, along with Bluffton and Henning, but nothing with New York Mills and Perham.

Fire Chief Dean Uselman said Wadena and Perham may need each other's services again, and not necessarily in the context of another natural disaster.

"I think it's a good reciprocal agreement," he said.

The council approved a variety of other agreements during the regular meeting:

• a motion to transfer land to Wadena County to expand their demolition landfill with some considerations.

• a joint powers agreement with M State to enforce parking tickets, with Mayor Wayne Wolden abstaining.

• a temporary liquor license for St. Ann's annual Spring Fest.

• employee step increases for city workers Evan Lachowitzer, Joann Ostlund and Shawn Swenson.

• board appointments for the planning commission and the library board.

• a safety glasses resolution with updated prices since 2004.
