The grass skirts and coconut bras have arrived just in time to outfit five courageous gentlemen.

The Miss Tootsie Pageant will be held at Memorial Auditorium on Friday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.

Contestants include Dr. Aaron Larson, Doug Curtis, John Kempf, Erik Olson and Wayne Wolden.

Audience members are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts to the island style event. This year's contestants will compete in drag in casual wear, talent and evening gowns events. Judges will determine the winners in each category and an overall winner to be crowned Wadena's Miss Tootsie 2011. Winners will receive gift certificates donated by area businesses.

Patti O'Furnitire, a.k.a. Dean Uselman, last year's Miss Tootsie, will lead a Hukilau Hula.

Other special guests include Miss Wadena 2010 Hanna Larson and Wadena's First Princess Haley Anderson as well as the Little Miss contestants.

The Miss Tootsie pageant is a fundraiser for the Miss Wadena Scholarship Fund.

Part of the fundraiser is a People's Choice award. There will be voting displays at each of the following for community members to vote for People's Choice: First National Bank, Wadena State Bank and Mid-Central Federal Savings Bank. Voting is unlimited and the candidate with the most quarters in his "tootsie bank" wins the award.

Tickets for the Miss Tootsie event are available at the aforementioned banking locations as well as Thrifty White Drug for $5 in advance. The door price is $6.

Director Bonnie Kingsley will be canvassing the community for donations of funds and certificates.

"If you missed this family friendly hilarious event last year, make sure to join us for an evening of laughter and fun," Kingsley said. "We hope you will join us and enjoy the talent and efforts of your Miss Tootsie contestants. Many thanks to all the volunteers who make this event so successful and fun."
