Longest Night Music Festival scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 21
The second annual Longest Night Music Festival at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is a free concert open to the public to be held at the Center at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
The Festival features local musical artists and celebrates the winter season in music and song. Earlier this month the Center sponsored its annual holiday concert with the vocal quintet Saana Ensemble singing songs in Finnish that celebrate the Christmas season. For the Longest Night Festival, musical selections of singers and musicians interpret the season of the year as we turn from growing darkness before the solstice toward longer days into winter and spring.
Musical artists who will participate this year include John Perry of Wadena, Patty Kakac of Evansville, Dave Virnala of New York Mills, the St. Cecilia classical music trio of Wadena and Glenwood, Scott Gunvaldson and Dave Stoddard of Fergus Falls, and Ben Ranson of Sebeka. These local musical talents form an eclectic mix of musical styles that will leave everyone feeling refreshed.
Everyone is warmly welcomed to participate in the Festival, talk with the musicians and enjoy some holiday treats as well.
