Verndale and Hewitt United Methodist Churches join in a mutual ministry

The people of Verndale United Methodist Church and Hewitt United Methodist Church announced their two local United Methodist Churches have come together. Verndale and Hewitt UMCs will now be joined in their ministries under the leadership of the Rev. Jill Pawlowski. Pawlowski has been serving the Verndale church for the past four years, and prior to that time was a member of the Hewitt Church.

The two churches are already doing some things together, and the hope is that they will join in more ways. Members of both churches are invited to go back and forth as service times suit their needs. This concept will enable the people to get to know each other and to use the programs and services of each church to the best advantage.

New service times as of Nov. 7 are: Verndale at 9 a.m. and Hewitt at 10:30 a.m. Everyone in the area is welcome to join in the worship services at either of the churches. Arrive for coffee before the service at Verndale and stay after the service for fellowship at Hewitt. The Hewitt church offers Sunday School during the service time for the children and will soon be starting a Bible Study after the service.

"This concept is new and innovative, and we are hoping to be stronger communities of faith as we join together in serving," Pawlowski said.
