Sebeka newcomer paces Wolverine golfers
Newcomer Michael Wing shot an 85 Monday as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines opened their 2010 season by firing a 367 in the Wildflower Early Bird.
The Sebeka golfer is one of several first-year additions to this year's WDC squad, which also has the talents of six golfers from New York Mills.
Tyler Fix was seven strokes off Wing's pace with a 92 while Bryan Silvers and Bryce Pazdernik came in with a 94 and a 96. Nick LeTourneau and Tyler Heinzen rounded out the scoring with rounds of 101 and 106.
Connor Hedstrom of Detroit Lakes shot a 72 to edge teammate Karter Smith by a single stroke for medalist honors. Staples-Motley golfer Zach Israelson and Crosby-Ironton's Tyler Snook both carded rounds of 74.
The Detroit Lakes Red squad won the tournament by shooting a 300. The Wolverines were 14th in the 16-team field.
