Two brothers were arrested after authorities gassed a house to end a standoff this morning in Park Rapids.

One person, described by Park Rapids Police Chief Terry Eilers as the boyfriend or husband of the brothers' mother, was shot in the leg. The injury was serious but not believed to be life-threatening, Eilers said.

About 20 officers from several agencies responded to the house in Park Rapids after shots were reported there about 1 a.m., Eilers said. Police had already been looking for the brothers -- both of whom were recently released from prison and are well-known by law enforcement -- after people reported hearing shots fired earlier in the night, he said.

The brothers were taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. No officers were injured in the standoff, and no additional shots were fired, Eilers said.
