Upcoming H1N1 vaccination clinics announced

Tri-County Health Care and Wadena County Public Health will be hosting upcoming H1N1 vaccination clinics on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at M-State, Wadena Campus and Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Sebeka Elementary School. Both clinics will run from 4-7 p.m.

There are no appointments; vaccination is on a walk-in, first come-first serve basis and only for the following targeted groups:

• Persons age 6 months to 24 years

• High-risk adults age 25-64 who have a chronic medical condition such as asthma, diabetes, or cancer

• Healthcare or EMS workers

• Caretakers of infants less than 6 months old

• Pregnant women

Second dose vaccines will be available for children age 6 months to 9 years. Please note that children must have received their first vaccine on or before Nov. 10 to be eligible for the second dose.

Be sure to bring your insurance cards with you. If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover the cost of administering the vaccine, you will not be charged. Children age 9 and younger should get two H1N1 vaccinations, spaced one month apart. Children who have had influenza like illness that was not culture confirmed as H1N1 should still receive the H1N1 vaccine.
