Storm interrupts 'Grand Parade'

Children on a float thanking sponsors of Wadena summer rec get soaked during a downpour Thursday night at the "Grand Parade." The parade was later canceled as the weather became threatening.

Wadena's "Grand Parade" was canceled shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday night when threatening weather moved into the area. Law enforcement advised parade watchers, many of whom were already soaked from a brief downpour, to leave the parade area and head home.

While the parade was shortened, visitors were able to see a number of floats and the Bertha-Hewitt marching band pass by.
