Northern Lights Chorale marking 10 years with concerts in Wadena and Sebeka
A dinner-concert called "All Ye Who Love Music" will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at the Pine Cove Inn in Wadena.
The concert will be directed by Ben Huhta and accompanied by Mary Beth Brockpahler. A feature of the program is an alto, tenor and bass solo with Mark Fulfs, the Rev. Mike Kellogg and Jon Nevala in the selection "Rejoice in the Lord Always," based on Philippians 4: 4-7, by Henry Purcell.
Tickets are available from Marci Olson at (218) 472-3263 or the Pine Cove.
This dinner concert is a celebration of 10 years of singing and harmonizing since the inception of Northern Lights Chorale. With a grant from the Five Wings Art Council, Joyce Manning started the musical group in the fall of 1998.
The chorale is a community chorus of 24 singers from the Menahga, New York Mills, Nimrod, Sebeka, Verndale, and Wadena areas who perform a variety of musical selections for concerts-from classical to seasonal to religious to folk songs.
Chorale members practice once a week for three to four months prior to their Christmas and spring concert series. Concert dress rehearsals are held at local nursing home facilities for their residents.
In addition to the May 15 dinner-concert at the Pine Cove Inn, the Northern Lights Chorale has a 7 p.m. Sunday evening concert on May 17 at the United Methodist Church in Sebeka.
