Lois E. Pritchard

Lois Elaine (Smith) Pritchard, 88, of Osage, passed away April 20, 2009.

She was born May 25, 1920, in Osage Township, Becker County, the daughter of Floran and Faye Smith. She attended District 37 rural school and Park Rapids High School, graduating in 1937. After graduation, she was employed at various positions: as clerk, waitress, nurses aide at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, and later as manager of the Sears Order Office in Wadena. She married Victor "Harold" Pritchard on Sept. 16, 1946, and they farmed for several years in the Osage vicinity. After her husband's death in 1993, she continued to live on the family farm with son, Eugene. In 1996, she moved to River Heights Apartments and in 1999 she moved to Court Apartments in Park Rapids where she lived until 2000 when she moved to Park Villa apartments. She was hospitalized in February and then resided at Heritage Living Center from early March until her death.

She was a home-loving person. She enjoyed gardening her flowers and vegetables which she shared with others, caring for her home, doing embroidery and various crafts. She enjoyed writing and reading and several of her articles were published by local papers or national magazines. She taught Sunday School class and assisted with release classes at the First Baptist Church of Osage where she was a member and faithful worker for many years. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Bakers' Dozen Homemakers Club as long as her health permitted. She was especially proud of her Scottish heritage and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she considered no sacrifice too great for their welfare.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, at the Faith Baptist Church with Dick Jorgenson and Scott Warne officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery in Osage. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. To leave online condolences, visit
