Two people were taken into custody on Thursday, April 2 in Nimrod after a standoff with Wadena County sheriff's deputies and the SWAT team.

Sheriff Mike Carr said his office believed Daniel Lee Hansen, 48, and Robin Clara Peterson, 45, were hiding at the residence of Daniel's father after a domestic dispute between Daniel and another family member earlier in the week. When authorities went to search the residence and outbuildings, they found Daniel and Peterson in a locked RV on the property, Carr said.

According to Carr, Daniel made threats toward the deputies that he would shoot them if they tried to come in and get him. The Wadena/Hubbard SWAT team was called in, and Wadena County Chief Deputy Bill Cross negotiated with Daniel for about 35 minutes until he surrendered peacefully.

Carr said both suspects were taken into custody at that time.

Daniel was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Peterson was wanted for not completing the terms of her release from another charge.

No weapons were located in the RV, Carr said, but a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found by deputies in the RV.

A report of the incident was forwarded to the Wadena County Attorney's office for review and potentially for additional charges.
