Four Wolverines named to Mid-State wrestling team

Wadena-Deer Creek's Matt Hagen, Eddie Lustila, Josh Sweere and Jared Wegscheid have earned post-season wrestling honors in the Mid-State Conference.

Hagen won the Section 6 individual title at 130 to earn his first trip to the Class A state meet. The senior grappler won 31 of his 36 matches. Lustila posted a 22-11 record at heavyweight and placed sixth in the section meet. Sweere and Wegscheid both received honorable mention. Nic Harrison of Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus was voted Conference MVP. The Road Crew skipper posted a 37-2 record and finished in 3rd place at the 2009 State Class AA Tournament. Harrison also won the WDC Invitational, Brainerd Paul Bunyan Invitational, Big Bear Tournament, and Park Region Conference Invitational.
