Bernadine "Butch" Marquardt, 90, of Wadena, passed away Feb. 20, 2009, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.
She was born Sept. 3, 1918, to Adolph and Mae (Link) Marquardt in Wadena, where she enjoyed living nearly her entire life. She was an LPN at the hospital in Wadena for 45 years. She was a dedicated nurse who refused to miss a day for nearly any reason, unless it involved spending time with her niece and nephew. She loved talking with everyone she met and was well respected and loved by patients and staff alike. She was a lifetime member of the Alliance Church. Her faith was very important to her and she enjoyed reading the Bible regularly. She was also an avid collector, always on the lookout for new additions to her collections, particularly her Precious Moments figurines. She followed the Minnesota sports scene and caught every Twins and Vikings game she could. Above all, she loved dogs. Her dogs were truly part of her family and she loved and cared for them like no one else could.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, in the Fair Oaks Lodge Chapel. Interment will be in the Wadena Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Carolyn Marquardt, of Bloomington; a nephew and niece and their families; and close friend Lois Miller of Wadena.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Mae; her sister, Margaret; and her brother, Don.
