Bob Geiser

Robert "Bob" Paul Geiser, 85, passed away Nov. 7, 2007, at the Elders Home in New York Mills.

He was born July 19, 1922, in Bluffton to Hubert L. and Kathryn M. (Otte) Geiser. He was raised in the Bluffton area where he attended school. He served in the Army from May 12, 1944, to May 31, 1946. He served in the battles and campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He later served in the Korean War from Sept. 3, 1950, to May 17, 1951.

He married Joyce Marian Longley who passed away on March 23, 1977. Together they farmed, and raised their seven children. He then married Bernice R. (Trosen) Bode on Dec. 7, 1978. They moved to Wadena after living a few years south of Bluffton. He always owned and worked with horses. He knew how to harness and drive horses from the time he was a young boy. After he retired and moved to town he took up the hobby of making harnesses for toy horses.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Wadena Evangelical Church with the Revs. Jeff Heisler and Chuck Lamason officiating. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jason Duberowski, Thomas Geiser, Amy Eystad, Billy Geiser, Marie Sandback, Jimmy Duberowski, Jennifer Miller, Scotty Duberowski and Kevin Geiser. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Irene (Delbert) Sandback of New York Mills, Elizabeth (Dan ) Duberowski of Fridley; sons, Mark (Barbara) of Concord, Calif., Tom of Orinda, Calif., Richard (Dianne) of Appleton, Robert (Joanne) and Dennis, all of Wadena; stepchildren, Ronald Bode of Canby, Ore., Rollin Bode of Mesa, Ariz., and Chikita (Tim) McGarrah of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; sister, Norene Murray of Wadena; brothers, Hubert of Cambridge, James of Hutchinson and Harry of Fridley; 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Joyce.
