One incumbent, two from Deer Creek win WDC school board

Voters indicated a need for change with the election of two of the three Deer Creek candidates for the Wadena-Deer Creek School Board.

"The people wanted a change," said Wayne Perkins, of Deer Creek. "They want somebody ... different because they were tired of them."

His next step is to study and catch up on the issues, Perkins said. He also wants to get his name and number out so people can contact him.

Perkins received 1,627 votes. John Moenkedick, another Deer Creek candidate, received 1,714 votes, the most of any candidate. He was at work and unavailable for comment Wednesday.

Incumbent Ann Pate was reelected with 1,669 votes. She was unavailable for comment.

Mike Girard, a third candidate from Deer Creek, came in fourth in the voting, and missed one of the three seats. His total was 1,387.

Incumbents Betty A. White and William Higgs received 896 votes and 962 votes respectively.
