Organic produce workshop to be in Verndale
The fifth annual Organic Management Workshop will be Saturday, March 5 at the Verndale Community Center.
Learn more about growing produce organically at the event organized by the Staples Area Farmer's Market Association.
Registration will be begin at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will end at 4 p.m.
Topics for this year's workshop include:
• Intensive market gardening techniques
• Soil health
• Healthy plants and individuals
• Irrigation/water quality
• Insect control and habitats
• Farmer's market pricing research
• Producers Grower Panel sharing their experiences and answering questions
Throughout the years, this workshop has addressed local grower needs for organic production practice in Central Minnesota. This year, the focus is on gathering producers interested in learning and sharing their problems and successes with each other to improve their businesses.
Speakers will share their experiences and wisdom through the workshop. They will work with growers to improve their horticultural enterprises and to be able to fill the market needs of facilities in the region.
The price for registration is $25 per person. The fee includes lunch, in-depth materials and interactive sessions.
