Two men found dead of apparent gunshot wounds in Cass County
WALKER - The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of two people at a residence in Onigum, near Walker.
The sheriff's office received a call at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday for medical assistance at a residence on the 8700 block of Midway Drive Northwest in Onigum, a community near Walker.
Medical personnel and officers arrived and found two victims from apparent gunshot wounds requiring medical attention. One adult male, 57, was transported via North Memorial AirCare to a Fargo, N.D., hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The other adult male, 60, was pronounced dead at the residence. Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members.
The victims were transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office with apparent gunshot wounds.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch Thursday said he could not provide additional comment on the case, including information on the relationship between the victims, how many times they were shot, where the wounds were located, where they were discovered, or if the sheriff's department is seeking suspects.
Burch said the incident remains under investigation, pending autopsy and toxicology results. He said investigators believe there is no imminent danger to the residents of Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Leech Lake Tribal Police, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial AirCare.
