Korkowski benefit set for May 12

Korkowski family

A benefit for Edith Korkowski of rural New York Mills will be held at the Wadena Elks Lodge on Saturday, May 12 from 4 to 8 p.m.

In January, Korkowski was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The young wife and mother has been underdoing chemotherapy treatments at Sanford Health in Fargo, and is to be finished sometime this month.

"She may be having radiation, they don't know at this point yet," her mother, Cheri Endres, said.

Endres said her daughter was given a very good prognosis.

Korkowski grew up in Bluffton, and she and her husband, Nate, went to Wadena Deer Creek High School.

Edith Korkowski is an office manager and salesperson at Salo Manufacturing in Menahga, and Nate works with Kern Electronics in Wadena.

They have two girls: Haley, 5, and Alyssa, 3.

Edith Korkowski is the second sibling to go through lymphoma cancer.

Her older brother, Jeff Endres, had Hodgekin's lymphoma during his teens and is in remission.

"We hope everything goes well with the benefit," Cheri Endres said.

The benefit includes a ham and scalloped potato dinner and silent auction.

A live auction starts at 7:30 p.m.

All proceeds are to be used to offset current and future medical expenses.
