Savor the Moment winners announced

Savor the Moment, a chef's challenge and fundraiser for Staples Motley school readiness programs, was held Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Landmark Inn in Staples.

Ticket holders were treated to gourmet samples from eight area restaurants and caterers along with chef demonstrations throughout the evening. The judges and the crowd agreed Saturday night awarding Prairie Bay Grill and Catering (Baxter) with Best Appetizers/Entrée for their Petit Smoked Chicken Salad Wrap and Butternut Squash Bisque. Harvest Thyme Bistro (Wadena) was awarded Best Dessert for Panna Cotta with Brittle and Maple. The judges were Tammy Bell, Barb Donahue and Claire Steen.

More than $3,000 in event proceeds was raised for school readiness programs in the Staples Motley School District. These funds will be used for scholarships for area children and to help defer program costs.

"This was a truly fun event for all attendees and was a very successful night in raising funds for school readiness classes. The participating chefs gave so much of their time and talent. We are very grateful to them," said Sara Dregney, event chair and Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition member.
