Churches celebrate parish picnic

Two church bodies Zion and Bethany Free Lutheran Churches gathered Aug. 26 for their parish Picnic at Tapley Park. Submitted photo

On Sunday, Aug. 26 , the sister churches of Zion Free Lutheran Church of Wadena

and the Bethany Free Lutheran Church of Bluegrass shared a special event at their

Parish Picnic at Tapley Park in Wadena. They gathered to support and to fellowship

together as Christians and to give thanks to God Almighty for another year of faithful

ministry.

The picnic also enjoyed a concert by Jodi Carly and family, a traveling song evangelist and songwriter from Brainerd. She gave testimony of faith in Christ and even during her tough times, Jesus always brought her through to victory.

The meal was catered by The BBQ Smokehouse of Wadena who prepared in grand

fashion a delicious pig roast and all the trimmings.

A storm blew through at the time of the picnic, but the spirit of the gathering was not

hampered even though the wind blew, and the rain came down.

Zion Free Lutheran and Bethany Free Lutheran are served by Rev. Curtis Emerson and

continue to preach the Word of God and share the wonderful life of Jesus Christ. Zion

Church services are each Sunday at 11 a.m., at 602 S Jefferson in Wadena and

Bethany meets at 9 a.m. in Bluegrass. All are welcome.
