New Year's cocktails

I really enjoy this time of year. Christmas and New Year's means spending time with family and friends, playing games, dancing and enjoying good food and drinks. New Year's Eve is one of my favorite holidays because I enjoy a good party. I also love to try new drink recipes and indulge a fancy cocktail, which I only do at this time of year. Below are a few of my favorite drink recipes for New Year's Eve.

The Zangle

1 oz. vanilla vodka (I use Stoli's Vanilla, but use whatever brand you want)

½ oz. triple sec

1 oz. orange juice

1 oz. half and half

orange peel for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, mix together all ingredients except orange peel over 4-5 ice cubes. Shake well. Pour into martini glass. Garnish drink with orange peel.

Ritz Martini

1 oz. cointreau

1 oz. dry champagne

1 oz. courvoisier

2 oz. pomegranate juice

Put 4-5 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients and shake until well blended. Pour into a martini glass and enjoy.

Ladies' Night

¼ oz.simple syrup

2 oz. mixed fresh berries

¾ oz. vodka

¾ oz. St. Germain liqueur

¼ oz lemon juice

Champagne to top

Muddle the fresh berries and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add vodka, St. Germain, lemon juice, and ice, shaking. Strain into a champagne flute and top gently with champagne, letting the foam subside and topping again until the glass is filled. Can be made into a mocktail, substituting sparkling apple cider for the champagne and eliminating the vodka and St. Germain.
