There was a chapel service on Sunday at Fair Oaks Lodge with chapel and bean bag toss on Monday. Tuesday brought bingo, chapel and telling jokes while on Wednesday ball games, crafts and Immanuel Communion took place.

United Way giving to Wadena food shelf The fundraising campaign is underway, and according to Gary Sellman, treasurer, contributions and pledges so far total a bit more than $15,000, which is $10,000 under the goal set by the local board to meet the commitments to the agencies. With increased need during tough economic times, the United Way board encouraged contributions, which can be sent to Box 22, Wadena.

Nineteen nearly lost to history Doris Sophia Johnson was buried in Pioneer Cemetery 110 years ago, but she is not forgotten. The girl who died Nov. 30, 1899, at age 1 now has a marker for her tiny grave years after the original turned to dust.

And this September the Wadena resident finally flew to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial built to honor him and others who served in the war.
