Accidents: June 9-17
June 9 • A two-vehicle accident happened around 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Franklin Avenue SW. The lead vehicle was stopped at the intersection and was rear-ended by the trailing vehicle. Both occupants of the lead vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the trailing vehicle said she had been distracted by a third vehicle, behind her, which had been following too closely. Witnesses said they thought the trailing vehicle was going faster than the speed limit. The trailing vehicle was uninsured at the time of the accident, according to a state report of the incident. The driver of that vehicle later provided police with an insurance card, but the officer noted the policy was started on June 9 at 6:45 p.m., about six hours after the accident. June 15 • A two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of First Street SE and Colfax Avenue. One of the drivers complained of wrist pain and the other of foot pain, but neither wanted medical attention. June 17 • A vehicle was leaving a parking space at Wadena Medical Clinic when it side-swiped a parked vehicle, then left the scene. The parked vehicle was damaged in the right rear door and fender. A witness at the scene wrote down the license number of the offending vehicle. • Another hit-and-run property damage accident was reported at the Wadena Medical Clinic parking lot. A scrape was left across the front bumper of the parked vehicle, and the driver of the offending vehicle left the scene. A witness reported the incident, and the driver who left the scene was contacted and eventually admitted hitting the other car. She provided insurance information.June 24, 2009
