In the recent individual artist grant application review by the Five Wings Arts Council, the following individual artists were awarded grants:

Five Wings awards two community grants

Two community grants were recently awarded by the Five Wings Arts Council in the small grants program. This program provides up to $1,000 and is designed for first-time organizational applicants in Cass, Crow Wing, Wadena, Morrison and Todd Counties. It assists those organizations wishing to take advantage of new or late-breaking opportunities which do not allow time to apply within the regular community access grant cycle. Applications for these projects are on-going with no deadlines.

Portraits of Home II photography exhibit opening in New York Mills PressPass

Portraits of Home II photography exhibit opening in New York Mills Portraits of Home II, a new photographic exhibit, opens Saturday, Feb. 6 at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from noon to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm. There is no admission charge for this exhibit.

Rescheduled: Mad Lab presents ‘girl.’  at Masonic Lodge Bonus chance to see ‘girl.’ Mad Lab’s Jan. 23 performace of “girl.” by Megan Mostyn-Brown was rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 30 because of bad weather. The performance will be at 7 p.m. at the Wadena Masonic Lodge, above the Mall of Wadena. Audiences are cautioned concerning mature content and explicit language.

Hunter returns to theater role with Madhatters It was spring 1976 and auditions were announced for a Madhatter Revival Show to be produced. The organization had been dormant for many years and Bill Bradford, a Wadena native, had returned to town and wanted to get the community theater going again.

Jazz pianist coming to Wadena Paul Asaro is known as one of the finest of a select group of pianists who perform the demanding, two-handed piano styles, including the Stride piano of Fats Waller, the New Orleans styles of Jelly Roll Morton, the ragtime of Scott Joplin and Eubie Blake, plus stomps, boogie-woogie and swing.
